Choose a Connected Experience
Start with the action the audience should be able to take. Technology follows the outcome.
Decision guide
Section titled “Decision guide”| Desired outcome | Good starting experience | Usually needs verified physical presence? |
|---|---|---|
| Read content or instructions | Managed information page | No |
| Open a current offer or campaign | Changeable destination | No |
| Register interest or request contact | Short form with clear consent | No |
| Claim a limited item | Controlled claim workflow | Sometimes |
| Check authenticity | Verification result and product record | Yes |
| Transfer or establish ownership | Identity-aware ownership workflow | Yes |
| View private client reporting | Authenticated customer portal | Yes, for the person—not necessarily the object |
Use the lowest sufficient trust level
Section titled “Use the lowest sufficient trust level”Ordinary taps are appropriate for content, education, offers, and most campaigns. A verified tap is appropriate when the experience must distinguish the real physical object from a copied or forwarded URL.
Choosing a higher trust level adds product, provisioning, testing, and support requirements. It should solve a real risk rather than serve as decorative technology.
Questions to answer before scoping
Section titled “Questions to answer before scoping”- Who is the intended participant?
- What useful action should happen after the interaction?
- Does that action involve identity, money, ownership, warranty, or a limited entitlement?
- What information is necessary to complete the action?
- How long should the experience and its records remain available?
- Who approves content and who may change it after launch?
- What result will make the program worthwhile?
